For true drama enthusiasts, theatre is one of the most important dramatic mediums - the highest-quality, $400,000,000 blockbuster on the largest screen in the world still cannot compare with the front row in a traditional theatre watching an absorbing play. One of the oldest entertainment mediums is live performance and its by-products have been some of the greatest dramatists and performers in history... Palfery-Productions, ltd. respects theatre and its place in a thriving modern world, and has beyond a flashy maxim decided to set itself between the arcane crafts and those who would see it abolished.
Film Production and Theatre Production are two very different things - for example, one of the primary concerns in on-screen projects is the money involved... a reservation it is impossible to have with theatre. There is no guarantee - and often little inclination - that a show will profit, whether it is in a rustic amusement hall in Brighton or a top West End venue... but Palfery-Productions concerns itself with theatre in a way that too few (in our opinion) other production companies do.
It is Art for Art's sake.
Mares Liberum (Staged - Summer 2008)
Royal Victoria Theatre, Southborough
A modern murder mystery, set on a hyper-technological cruise
ship in 2010, hosted by the fictional Atlantis Travel, co.
Although copyrighted, this play remains unpublished.
This show, scripted by Lawrence Watling and John Smith,
had very little known about it until the opening nights,
deliberately setting itself up as a very mysterious and
serious production... so it generated a stir in its successful
but unexpected clashes of dark humour and slapstick - of
profound speculation and perverse stupidity. Within its
area of effect it was widely acclaimed.
Mares Liberum at the Fringe (Coming 2010)
The follow-up to 2009's co-production of Oliver!, also
the revival of Mares Liberum in the year it was originally
set, is being treated with much anticipation in the run up to
the Fringe this year... with preparation already begun
Palfery-Productions, ltd. will, alongside Atlantis Travel Co.,
bring the Mares Liberum to the masses from August.
